We don’t usually do things like this but it was in gorgeous weathered June, we had been dying for some family camping time, and thought we’d take a couple weeks and make it fun. Even better, we met up with our own sis Ashlea in Tahoe, who lounged around with Lux and Hazel at the resort (Northstar California Resort) while we photographed the wedding. Family made this wedding experience memorable and wonderful, especially because our couple was fantastic.
They were a southern California couple who vacationed in Tahoe, so a destination wedding for them too. Everything about Tahoe is emerald green-stunning this time of year: wildflowers, blue skies, bright sun, woodsy smokey gorgeousness. Ashley stunned herself in a skin-tight lace gown showing off a truly cool elephant tattoo (we couldn’t get enough of this girl in this dress with this tattoo—we were elbowing one another out of the way to photograph her!). David was a gentleman, with a set of really kind groomsmen that were fun to shoot. The mountaintop lodge glittered in the California sunshine, and the reception was beautiful. Truly a wonderful experience!
Location: Lake Tahoe, California (Northstar California Resort)

Katie’s Favorite Memory: I loved the fit of Ashley’s dress. I’ll never forget the way she shimmied into it, her mom holding it in the back as they worked the delicate lace up one shake at a time. It dipped low in the front and just hugged her like a lover. I became so stressed trying to figure out the best possible way to truly capture her in that gown and still feel like I didn’t quiiiite do it justice (although seriously, I must have taken at least a thousand pictures of her to get it. No joking).
